Our company is globally distributed, offering the opportunity to collaborate with co-workers across the world. This role requires availability to work and attend meetings during Eastern Time zone (North America) business hours.
About the role:
We're seeking a foundational engineer to join and establish our Platform Engineering team. You will wear many hats as we bootstrap site reliability, cloud, and DevOps functions across our growing product and platform.
About the work:
As the first Platform Engineer, you will have the opportunity to architect and establish platform engineering at Conduit. This is a hands-on leadership role, where you will work closely with the CTO and leaders across the Engineering team.
Our company is geographically distributed, and this position offers the opportunity to collaborate with co-workers worldwide. It is a remote position (work from home) that can be based anywhere with shared business hours in the Eastern time zone.
What you'll do in this role:
- Architect, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Design, develop, and manage infrastructure using Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources in AWS.
- Lead incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and post-mortem reviews, to ensure system reliability and operational excellence.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems using Datadog to ensure service reliability and performance.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab to streamline the development and deployment processes, ensuring code quality and quick delivery.
- Design and manage containerized environments using Docker, including the orchestration and scaling of these containers in production.
- Work closely with development teams to understand their needs, provide guidance, and implement best practices in DevOps and SRE.
- Implement security best practices across infrastructure and CI/CD processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum of 7+ years in a DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering role, with a strong background in AWS, Terraform, Docker, GitLab, and Datadog.
- In-depth knowledge of AWS services (ECS, RDS, Lambda, etc.), infrastructure as code (Terraform), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD tools (GitLab).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
- A deep understanding of automation principles and a strong desire to automate processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- A team player who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
- Experience leading projects or initiatives within a team.
Nice to have:
- Experience in high-growth startup environments.
- Experience in highly regulated environments, preferably fintech.
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
