What we are looking for:

Venture Lead will help launch new Diagram fintech ventures each year. We are looking for an exceptional individual who possesses an entrepreneurial drive and deep passion for the fintech / startup ecosystem.

Venture Lead will play a pivotal role in turning ideas into thriving companies, by rapidly developing an in-depth understanding of the space and establishing themselves as a subject matter expert within a short timeframe. You can thrive on working independently with minimal guidance.

You’ll report directly to the Head of Fintech Venture Creation, and work directly with Diagram Partners, potential founders and expert advisors to lead the development, evaluation, and de-risking of new ideas.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing in-depth investment theses and perspectives on opportunity areas;
• Generating and pitch new venture ideas;
• Conducting user and market research, performing market sizing, analyzing competitive landscape, assessing business models and unit economics to evaluate potential ideas;
• Developing pitch decks and investment memos;
• Owning the work plan and leading the de-risking of ideas via pre-seed testing (in collaboration with engineering, product, growth, and other external experts);
• Pitching ideas to entrepreneurs, participate in the vetting and team x idea matching process, and building close relationships with founders
• Contributing to building Diagram's culture and brand in the community (e.g. attending startup community events, conferences, etc)

You should have:

• 5+ years of work experience in relevant fields such as:
  • Consulting or advisory focused on tech products / businesses
  • Early-stage tech incl. product management, operations, human-centered design, engineering, or other experience within tech startups
  • Venture building at a venture studio
  • Early stage venture capital investing (Seed or Series A)
• Knowledge, experience or network in FinTech, InsureTech are a plus
• A track record of outstanding performance
• A proven entrepreneurial mindset, high degree of ownership and a self-starter mentality
• Intellectual curiosity and rigor
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) - be comfortable pitching ideas, and be able to produce high-quality deliverables
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to build financial models, conduct market sizing
• A technical (Engineering, Computer Science, Economics) or business degree
