We are a fast-growing startup that prioritizes speed and impact in everything we do, and we’re looking for a dedicated Senior Backend Engineer to spearhead our EV Sales Hub efforts and beyond. This role is essential to our mission of enabling mass EV adoption by helping dealerships sell 1 million EVs in the next 5 years.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of EV sales. You will design and develop scalable, high-performance APIs and backend systems to power an innovative EV Sales Hub. Your work will support web widgets and integrations deployed across hundreds of dealership websites. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled developer passionate about building robust, efficient, and secure backend solutions that drive real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend micro-services using Golang and/or Python.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Work with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, RDS, and S3, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • Micro-services Architecture: Build and maintain a distributed micro-services ecosystem with clear API contracts and service boundaries.
  • Performance & Security: Optimize backend services for scalability, efficiency, and security, leveraging best practices in authentication, logging, and monitoring.
  • Content Delivery & Caching: Utilize Amazon CloudFront (CDN) for efficient content distribution and performance optimization.
  • Code Quality & Collaboration: Use Git (GitHub) with feature branches and PR-based workflows, following best practices for peer code reviews and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Testing & Reliability: Write unit tests to ensure system reliability and robustness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to architectural discussions.

Qualifications:

  • Micro-services & Distributed Systems: Understanding of micro-services architecture, service-to-service communication, and API versioning.
  • Database & Storage: Experience with PostgreSQL or S3, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Security Best Practices: Knowledge of authentication, authorization (OAuth, JWT), encryption, and API security.
  • Version Control: Strong experience with Git and collaborative workflows on GitHub.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to tackle complex backend challenges independently and efficiently.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Skills:

  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow for workflow automation and orchestration.
  • Understanding of data engineering concepts, such as data pipelines, ETL processes, and real-time data processing.
  • Prior experience in the automotive or EV sector.
