About nesto and Nesto Cloud
nesto is Canada’s leading provider of mortgage technology and financing solutions, managing $73B+ CAD in residential and commercial mortgages, with 1,000+ team members across 12 offices nationwide. You will be working on Nesto Cloud, Canada’s most advanced cloud platform, delivering end-to-end technology solutions for lenders in the digital age.
What you’ll be doing
- Act as the primary servicing subject-matter expert for mortgage and consumer lending products, deeply understanding end-to-end servicing processes, regulatory requirements, and operational realities.
- Partner with Product Managers to translate servicing needs into clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and use cases.
- Ensure the product vision, roadmap, and feature prioritization reflect real-world servicing requirements, operational efficiencies, and compliance considerations.
- Identify and assess the impact of new lending features, regulatory changes, and servicing workflows to help shape product direction and support strategic decisions.
- Work closely with engineering, design, QA, operations, and compliance to validate designs and proposed solutions, ensuring they align with servicing best practices and industry standards.
- Support the backlog refinement process by prioritizing servicing-related epics and stories, balancing customer experience, operational needs, and technical feasibility.
- Participate in release planning, UAT, and pre-launch readiness to ensure servicing use cases are fully supported, edge cases are addressed, and downstream impacts are understood.
- Conduct research on industry trends, evolving regulations, servicing technologies, and competitor approaches, bringing insights to guide product evolution.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of servicing processes, scenarios, requirements, and system behaviors to support product teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Act as the go-to expert for servicing workflows, answering questions, supporting issue triage, and ensuring the product supports exceptional servicing experiences across all lending products.
Who we are looking for
- 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in mortgage servicing (bank, credit union, monoline lender, servicer, or processing/administration provider).
- Deep expertise across core servicing functions, including payment processing, mortgage accounting, escrow management (property taxes, fire insurance, renewals), interest calculations, discharge/payout processes, and arrears/default management.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to mortgage and consumer lending (e.g., property tax rules, insurance coverage guidelines, NSF/arrears notices, provincial regulations, reporting obligations).
- Experience working with servicing platforms or LOS/LMS systems, with the ability to translate operational needs into functional system requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with product, engineering, design, operations, compliance, and QA teams.
- Comfortable writing or contributing to user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and business rules.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with an ability to anticipate downstream impacts and foresee edge cases in servicing workflows.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex servicing concepts to non-experts in Product and Engineering.
Preferred but not a must
- Experience with other lending products (HELOC, personal loans, private lending, reverse mortgages, construction financing).
You shouldn't apply if
- You do not have deep experience in mortgage servicing; we are looking for an industry expert.
- You do not thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- You are not open to experimentation and continuous improvement.
