Who Are We?
At CMLS Financial, we strike a unique balance: the financial strength of a 50-year industry leader with the energy of a dynamic, fast-paced firm.
- Growth & Exposure: With over $45 billion in assets under administration, our "booming" business means you gain high-level exposure and real opportunities for career advancement.
- Supportive Culture: We are professional yet enjoyable. We provide a challenging environment supported by a team that wants you to succeed.
- National Reach: Work with Canada’s most prominent banks, investment managers, and pension funds from a platform with offices coast to coast.
With $500MM in annual originations, our footprint in Calgary is significant. We are seeking an Analyst, Real Estate Finance who understands that local context is just as important as the spreadsheet. From navigating the shifting dynamics of the downtown core to identifying emerging industrial hubs, you will provide the data-backed insights that power our investment decisions and local strategy.
Where You’ll Make An Impact:
- Support the Deal Lifecycle: Act as a key coordinator once a deal is signed, engaging directly with external clients and third parties to gather due diligence and investigate the "who, what, and why" behind every loan request.
- Analyze Financial Performance: Develop your technical skills by scrubbing property operating statements and financial data to help assess property performance and creditworthiness of the borrowing group.
- Contribute to Credit Narratives: Collaborate with the team to draft Mortgage Presentations, learning to translate raw data into clear summaries that support our lending recommendations.
- Facilitate the Funding Process: Help move deals from the Commitment Letter to the closing table by coordinating with the Funding, Legal, and the Origination team to ensure all pre-funding conditions are met.
- Build Expertise Across Asset Classes: Gain exposure to the fundamentals of CMHC-insured multi-family lending, as well as uninsured deals spanning other asset classes inclusive of retail, industrial and office.
- Track Market Dynamics: Monitor the real estate landscape nationwide, keeping a pulse on cap rates and industry news to ensure our team has the most current data for our risk assessments.
What We Value:
- Post-secondary education in finance, economics, real estate, business administration, or equivalent work experience.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment, seamlessly adapting to shifting scopes and tight deadlines while taking full ownership of projects from inception to completion.
- You have a natural instinct for spotting inconsistencies in complex data and the persistence to uncover the "why" behind the numbers, ensuring every detail is accurate.
- You translate financial statements and market trends into high-impact presentations, turning raw data into actionable insights for internal and external debt advisory.
- A team player who loves sharing knowledge and brainstorming with stakeholders, but possesses the discipline to own your commitments and the ability to deliver results independently.
- One (1) year of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, valuation, risk, or credit analysis will be considered an asset.
