As our Compliance Officer in Canada, you will be helping us launch our Canada program and overseeing compliance of our Canadian Money Services Business (MSB) entity. This includes building our program to meet all the key requirements of an effective compliance program such as setting up policies and procedures, standing up our transactions monitoring and ML/TF reporting, building a compliance training program, and building a compliance staffing model. You will be working closely with Fintech / embedded finance customers and our Sponsor Bank to launch financial product platforms in a compliant manner. You will also be a key decision maker and advisor on new product launches, improvements to our platform, and potential partnerships and implementation of cutting edge compliance tools to help us grow and scale the program. This is a very hands-on role! The ideal candidate is a talented, passionate, mission-driven thought leader with significant experience communicating, developing, and implementing practical compliance programs in a highly regulated, collaborative and fast-paced environment. In this role, you will work closely with the company’s Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.
What you'll do
- Oversee, build, and maintain an effective compliance program for our Canadian MSB entity as we launch into the Canadian market
- Work collaboratively with our Sponsor Bank to meet bank compliance requirements and to diligence, onboard, and monitor Fintech / embedded finance platforms from a risk and compliance perspective
- Work closely with our Fintech / embedded finance customers to educate, advise, and institute compliance requirements
- Advise and act as a subject matter expert for our product team and other internal stakeholders on new financial product launches and enhancements of our tools and platform;
- Ensure team members are appropriately trained on a regular basis on relevant compliance rules and regulations including ML/TF training;
- Have a finger on the pulse of new and upcoming applicable regulations to ensure that our program is current and reflects all required and best practice guidance;
- Oversee compliance assessments and report on the quality and effectiveness of the program to our executive team and the board of directors
What you'll bring
Must Have:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience at a fintech, financial institution or regulated financial entity (e.g. MSB) in a senior compliance role, specifically with developing, executing and managing a compliance program.
- Subject matter expertise in Canadian compliance topics including MSB and FINTRAC compliance program requirements, ML/TF requirements, know-your-client requirements, consumer compliance regulations, and other relevant banking regulations associated with deposit, payment, and lending products;
- Ability to act as a subject matter expert with our product, business development, and partnership teams to recommend risk and compliance technology, tools, and vendors and to consult on new product launches;
- Experience in managing teams and identifying staffing needs in a growth company
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast evolving or ambiguous environment;
- Strong and effective communication and ability to translate complex compliance requirements to customers and internal stakeholders in practical terms;
- Experience working with regulators, as well as internal auditors and independent third party examinations is a plus.

The salary range for this full-time position (CAD: $200,000-$250,000 ) is determined by role, level, and location. The range informed in this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US and Canadian locations. Within the range, individual pay will be determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, relevant training, and other factors.
